Another year, another brilliant HCSA conference

01 December 2022 by Mat Oram

We had a brilliant time at #HCSAWinter22. In fact, we’d go as far as saying it was the best HCSA procurement conference yet! The bustling exhibitor hall offered plenty of opportunities to meet with old friends and new, as we met to discuss how shared data can benefit us all.

We’d like to start by saying a BIG thank you to everyone who visited the AdviseInc stand (more than 150 of you!). It was particularly interesting to speak with a number of central bodies about working more together to support with new analysis, centred specifically around sustainability, social value and value-based procurement. You’ll be hearing more from us on this soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

We also had a great time with NHSEI, talking all things data and collaboration for the benefit of our customers across the UK. And on day two of the conference, AdviseInc’s CEO and co-founder, Matt Oram, took to the stage, with a guest appearance from the brilliant Ben Shaw, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Foundation Trust, who spoke about how our recent HCTED analysis has helped the trust recover more than £300,000 of missed reclaims.

It must be said, one of our favourite moments was Simon Clarke dancing his way onto the stage to pick up the Logistics Excellence Award for University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which was very well deserved! A huge congratulations goes out to all of the award winners.

We’ve been attending HCSA for many years now, but this year something felt different, with a sense of togetherness suggesting that NHS procurement is on the brink of something new. From Jacqui Rock and Preeya Bailie providing national updates, to NHS Supply Chain, our friends in specialist clinical procurement, and the many new faces we saw over the course of the two-day event, it was nice to see everyone engaging with one another and collaborating for the good of the NHS.

Yes, there’s still supply resilience issues, but these aren’t exclusive to the NHS. And if COVID has taught us anything, it’s that we’re pretty good at working through the challenges we’re presented with. Let’s see what the future holds.

Until next year, #HCSA!
